Digital Painting Workshops and Thoughts

Wednesday, April 2nd, 2008

Think back to when you learned Photoshop. All the learning online was so much easier after a hands on class with personal feedback. I am a real believer in take a class and then the information and tutorials online will make so much more sense.
We have an awesome and reasonably priced learning experience in a beautiful location this July. Two Days of Beginner Painter in Asheville, NC.
I should tell you all that the workshops are going to include not just Painter X but some other cool software as well that we either have demos of or have 30 day free downloads. So this is an intensive Digital Painting Workshop learning how to pull it all together and get a grasp on it.
Finishing my new book has brought so many new ideas to mind and formulated some new techniques. It’s actually getting easier to teach you all than harder!
Below is a “leaky pen” landscape. You can see the close up how it splats and rolls. When this is printed and paints added to it, it will become a full three dimensional multi media print. I will explore adding other textures to it also from Golden products.
Learning Painter X is no longer a cut and dried software learning experience. It’s a full throttle immersion into art and creativity and exploring how far to push it.
Traditional portraits are getting easier to create and be more original in painting them. Emulating another style is good for a lesson but then we want to take you far beyond that into a whole new world of selling your personal style to your clients and to the world.
We truly expect our Asheville Workshops to give everyone far more for the few days experience than just learning the software.
Come have fun and let your mind open to the possibilities!Leaky Pen Landscape

This is a great opportunity to catch my three hour program on how I use Painter to sell more art and how to present yourself as an artist and not just a photographer.

The PROPS Convention is being held in a super location at the Embassy Suites on International Drive in Orlando

Program Highlights: BEING THE ARTIST YOU ARE

Selling your art in your studio takes an original marketing campaign to change the way your clients perceive you.
Take the journey from photographer to being an artist and learn the tricks of the trade along the way.
Think like an artist, not like a photographer.
Now you will have your wedding and portrait customers buying wall pieces of art with their albums.
Marilyn will show you how to increase your bottom line and increase your personal value to your clients.
Starting with your photography and changing the way you approach your sales appointments you will learn how to
sell more than just albums or small prints.
Learn how to make your online world all work together for you for free advertising and marketing.
She will teach you how to sell both paintings and your artistic photographs no matter how they were created.
You will learn how forming lines of products with your artwork validates your artistic exposure to your clients.
Learn from a photographer who has become a world recognized artist and still maintains a portrait clientele.
Includes a “Fast Painting Demo” using Corel Painter X to show how fast a portrait painting can be done and sent to the lab to print.
Finally a program that brings Painter together with Business and Marketing to truly make more money.

Delays to Blogging

Friday, November 16th, 2007

Well, so much is happening so fast that there was no blogging time, but time to catch you all up on what’s up! Yesterday we closed on the house in Asheville and as of May 2008 we will be having Digital Art, Painting and Blogging Workshops in Asheville, NC.

It’s been a hectic time and will get worse when we pack three cats into the car on December 3rd and drive from Miami to Asheville straight through the night. On top of all this going on, I had a great loss that fills me with sadness. My 88 year old stepmom in NJ passed away and we flew up for the funeral and to see the whole family. On the up side, it was great to see all the family and there are many new babies and children there that I really need to get up there and photograph and paint them all!

I need to learn how to blog from my cellphone ….anyone have a site to help me with that? Also, two other notes, if you are on FACEBOOK join me there. Also, you can follow me on TWITTER now too. And if you are reading this and would like to get a special price to join the Digital Painting Forum for a year or two shoot me an email and I’ll tell you how to do it. Only good till November 25, 2007!!!

Going to try to catch up around here.
