WORKSHOP INFO: This is a TWO DAY Workshop which is a short time to try to cover everything I like to cover and share all my new techniques for painting. I will DISCUSS embellishing the final prints but will NOT be doing it on site. That would take too long and be too messy. We can schedule another workshop that includes that at another time, or please come to NIAGARA SCHOOL in Ontario where we will be doing that in depth.

Also, we will be discussing the business of being an artist, but again, we are really there to PAINT. I will share my ideas and marketing and most current successful campaigns and resources for more information on selling your art.

HANDOUTS: Everyone will receive a CD with documents on it and files that are printable. They are NOT meant to be the workshop instructions on a CD. They are a supplement to the class and include articles, resources, magazine articles and other information that I share with my students. Brushes and images for class are also included and we will be installing them. The CD is my gift to each student.

Art In Asheville

Sunday, April 6th, 2008

Blackbird Frame and Art Gallery had a wonderful opening yesterday at their new Lexington location which is full of light and amazing frames and art. My good friend and artist Binna Green had a showing of her fabulous ceramics and her "Goddess" greeted you at the front door! We were so taken with a beautiful battered colorful tin mirror by Silo Valley Copperworks Jesse Lee that it had to come home with us. Like many artists in Asheville Binna and Jesse are too busy to get their websites up but you can see their work at the gallery live and in person.

After the opening we went to Rezaz for lunch which was, as always, fabulous but the stand out for me was the humus with pomegranate and walnuts. WOW! Fabulous! Everything was good but that really got my attention.

Had a wonderful "artful" day and now it’s back to work.

Delays to Blogging

Friday, November 16th, 2007

Well, so much is happening so fast that there was no blogging time, but time to catch you all up on what’s up! Yesterday we closed on the house in Asheville and as of May 2008 we will be having Digital Art, Painting and Blogging Workshops in Asheville, NC.

It’s been a hectic time and will get worse when we pack three cats into the car on December 3rd and drive from Miami to Asheville straight through the night. On top of all this going on, I had a great loss that fills me with sadness. My 88 year old stepmom in NJ passed away and we flew up for the funeral and to see the whole family. On the up side, it was great to see all the family and there are many new babies and children there that I really need to get up there and photograph and paint them all!

I need to learn how to blog from my cellphone ….anyone have a site to help me with that? Also, two other notes, if you are on FACEBOOK join me there. Also, you can follow me on TWITTER now too. And if you are reading this and would like to get a special price to join the Digital Painting Forum for a year or two shoot me an email and I’ll tell you how to do it. Only good till November 25, 2007!!!

Going to try to catch up around here.

Cats are not Digital Paintings

Friday, November 2nd, 2007

Oh wow..what a day! Took all three cats to get bloodwork and checked up before we travel with them. Turned out the two older cats needed dental work which means anesthesia and surgery. On top of that, our “big boy” Jake now has diabetes. He is only around 8yrs old. So today was the big “surgery” day for the two of them and our little boy “Drayno” moped around the house all day missing his big brother and sister.

They are fine and we got them home….a “twitter” friend sent me this and it really made my day.  http://tinyurl.com/yobglx

To all the cat lovers…you understand.

Digital Art on the Way Out?

Sunday, July 15th, 2007

Barney Davey has a post on his blog Convergent Media-Is it Time to Bury Digital Art? Basically, it talks about using a new definition calling
digital art Convergent Media. This article is well worth your time to read it.
My personal thoughts are that this would mean we now have to define a new word to the public. It’s ART and
after visiting many museums and reading many blogs, etc, I think the best definition is the materials used and not
always how it was created originally.
We don’t explain from scratch, Photo Reference in the computer, then cloned, then painted, then printed, then sprayed, etc…
I prefer to just say it’s my art and it’s produced as pigment on canvas with hand embellishing and gold leafing, etc or whatever
I have added.
Too much detail might be boggling the minds of collectors that really don’t care about details, but end product instead.

Just my thoughts on it. What are yours. Comments welcome!

Where’s my cannolo?

Where's my cannolo?
Eliana Isabella is growing up fast!! Look at those eyes! Only a Grandma would talk like this. Kisses!!

Oh Nooooo…It’s almost JUNE!!

Wednesday, May 30th, 2007

Where did the time go again? I’ve been too busy to think about it. And now, after a nasty battle between me, my big toe and a suitcase, I am outta commission for a while. Breaking even a little bone in a wrist requires a large bulky nasty cast and more patience than I really have. Everyone around me is paying for this. Oh yes, did I tell you the suitcase I tripped on was my own and was right where I had put it earlier that evening? Only myself to blame. So I cried and shot the cast and posted it over on my digital painting forum and all of a sudden, I’m getting virtual signing of the cast, a digital manicure and awesome virtual jewelry to die for. Stay tuned for when the cast comes off!!
Cast and hand is real.....virtual signing and jewelry!!
