This is Digital Art and Painting

Thursday, March 13th, 2008

To be blunt, many think hard lines and vectors are digital art. Sorry to disappoint, but it’s the new art and after it’s on the canvas the embellishing and painting and varnishing begins! Have fun with it and don’t ever think “digital art” again. Think ART! Period.

This is one of my pieces printed, painted, gold leafed and embellished. I am not afraid to show this canvas close up!

Here’s a close up section of one of my most popular and my signature painting on a gallery wrapped canvas:  Bourbon Balcony

Ryan on the Run

Sunday, March 9th, 2008

Here’s the “thing”. My sons name is Ryan, we always nicknamed him Rhino and we collect rhinos in his honor. I saw this image and HAD to paint it and it just seemed to signify his life right now and where he is heading which is for wonderful things!

Myself, crashed under deadlines, wired for deadlines and fearing deadlines. Life is GREAT overall. I am a lucky woman to live where I want to live in Asheville, NC after moving from Miami,Fl and to have a life I always wanted.

Hope you like the painting!!

For the rest of the family:  Michael’s Media Room will be open during the workshop or you can go play golf during the day and come back later! Or take the kids to the close by lakes or canoeing or one of the many other things to do in the Smoky Mountains in the summer.

Portrait Painting with Corel Painter

Wednesday, February 6th, 2008

sholin_feb_2008_honey

I am going to call her HONEY because she is such a lovely honey of girl. I have known her since she was born and it’s a thrill to see her grow up. Painted with oil pastels in Corel Painter and no other brushes. A One Brush painting! Really enjoyed this and it only took a short time and every minute was enjoyable.

See you all in Orlando this Friday at PROPS and then on Monday in Sarasota at the Digital Technology Centre. I understand the three day workshop in Sarasota is a sell out, so if you forgot to sign up, call to get on the waiting list for the next one.

Don’t be Fooled by These

Don’t be fooled by these. Buy from real artists who care about your families and about their artwork. These look machine done and they are cranking them out. BUT, ARTISTS, take note of the MARKETING of these and the spin they put on the selling of them. If you can catch the HSN commercial for them, take heart and listen to the wording, the excitement and the SELLING of them.

You are better than these and your personal artistic input and take on the portrait is what you need to sell your own. A lot to learn here. Don’t get depressed. People buy from people who they not only like, but feel understand them and have a personal connection with them.

These clearly look like they are digital portrait paintings embellished with mediums, but I don’t see any personal input or additions to them.Remember, there is a consumer for a Ford and one for a Mercedes. BE the Mercedes.
